United morning news: Benatia is Moyes' ‘number one target’ & midfielder’s ‘unfinished business’

A select round-up of news relating to Manchester United

Tonight all eyes will be on Manchester United’s Champions League last-16 first-leg against Olympiakos, but before that, we take a look at what the papers are saying this morning.

United midfielder Darren Fletcher has been talking about European competition following his return from ulcerative colitis.

In quotes published in the Irish Independent, the Scotland international said, “I have unfinished business in the Champions League.

“It would be nice to finish that off.”

Success in the competition may also be his side’s only way of qualifying again next season. But given the sides still in the competition, that will be a far from easy proposition.

In other news, the Express reports that Roma defender Mehdi Benatia is David Moyes’ number one target to replace the outgoing Nemanja Vidic at the club.

The English paper has picked up on reports in Italy which claim the 26-year-old has been monitored by United for some time and is the first-choice to fill the void Vidic will leave behind him.
