Tottenham fans react to Diego Costa rumours on Twitter - 'Yeah right!'

Tottenham have been linked with a sensational move for Diego Costa over the last couple of days.

Tottenham Hotspur were strongly linked with a move for Atletico Madrid striker Diego Costa yesterday and last Sunday in a rumour which has sparked intense debate and discussion.

The current inconsistency which is following Roberto Soldado around on a weekly basis has prompted the suggestion that Tim Sherwood could target the La Liga striker as a potential attacking reinforcement in the summer.

“Tottenham flop Roberto Soldado could end his nightmare spell in English football after just one year - And reports in Italy suggest that should the former Valencia man leave Atletico Madrid hotshot Diego Costa is the man Spurs want to replace him,” writes Ben Burrows for the Daily Mirror.

Costa has been heavily linked with moves to Arsenal and Chelsea with both of Spurs’ London rivals reportedly considering the option of paying his £32 million buy-out clause after the World Cup this summer.

Those sides would surely still be interested even if Spurs came into the equation which could make the transfer more difficult for the North London side to pull off.

Considering the current gap between Arsenal, Chelsea and Tottenham Hotspur in the Premier League and the contrasting fortunes of the sides in Europe, the rumour has sparked several fans into slaughtering any apparent chance Spurs have of landing the striker.

Arsenal and Chelsea will also have an advantage in the race for Costa should they finish in the top four, which seems extremely likely, by the end of the season as Spurs battle with Liverpool for fourth place.

A top four finish means Champions League football, which is something a striker of Costa’s calibre and stature would surely be looking for if he decides to move away from Atletico Madrid ahead of next season.

Take a look below at some of the responses to the rumour on Twitter from Spurs fans.
