In mid-December, 2013, Chelsea draw Galatasaray in the Round of 16 in the Champions League, with the first leg to be contested at the Turk Telekom Arena on Wednesday, February 26 and, within 120 seconds of the announcement being made, manager Jose Mourinho was immediately attempting to gain inside information on his knockout opponent, as his former student Wesley Sneijder testified at a press conference today, Tuesday.
'Just two minutes after the draw, the phone rang and it was none other than Jose Mourinho,' he explained.
Galatasaray have a talent-rich squad that includes Felip Melo, Emmanuel Eboue and former Blue; Didier Drogba. They are also coached by a former Premier League manager - Roberto Mancini, previously of Manchester City.
Sneijder continued: 'He asked some crafty questions about team tactics, players, trying to obtain information, but he could not fool me – I have played football for many years and know what is being asked and what to say.
'We will see how the team plays and if we can beat them.'
Chelsea left West London to travel to Turkey yesterday, Monday.
