Report - Starlet offered to Liverpool, Man City last month 'wants to succeed at Ajax'

Ricardo Kishna wants to succeed at Ajax after he could have been sold last month.

Last month there were a few stories doing the rounds that Liverpool and Manchester City had been offered the opportunity to sign teenage winger Ricardo Kishna from Dutch giants Ajax.

At the time, the youngster hadn’t played in the Eredivisie for the Dutch side but he starred last weekend, grabbing his first goal for the senior side.

He’s a young man full of ambition and Dutch newspaper De Telegraaf has carried some very forward thinking, up front and powerful quotes from him as he aims to become one of the best players in the world.

“In the short term, I want to succeed at Ajax, but eventually I want one of the best players in the world. I am trying every day to get better and do everything in my sport,” reads a translated version of his quotes.

If the reports that Liverpool and City were offered him last month are true, then Brendan Rodgers and Manuel Pellegrini may have to scrape egg off their faces for the rest of the season.

There are two major problems if they are interested in him but preferred to wait until the end of the season before doing anything about it.

Firstly, his emergence in the first team under Frank de Boer has allowed him to create an identity with the club which has produced a desire to succeed in the Netherlands with his current employers.

Secondly, if his progress continues positively then more and more clubs are going to become aware of him and interested in him.

That makes it more difficult for Liverpool and Manchester City to get their hands on him but Rodgers and Pellegrini can’t be blamed. They were faced with a gamble, again if the reports were accurate, and the prospect of having to invest heavily in a youngster who us only just starting to prove himself in senior football.

Remember the name because you probably haven’t heard the last of it.
