Dortmund racked up a 4-2 away win over Zenit St Petersburg, leaving their chances of progression almost at a formality, the perfect response to a 3-0 weekend defeat to Hamburg.
Reus was rested for that one, but came back into the starting line-up last night, playing on the right wing as opposed to the left where he has started more than 20 games this season.
He was Dortmund's star attacker, scoring the opening goal and registered an assist, taking his total to the season to 10 goals and 11 assists.
Reus has been linked regularly with a transfer to Manchester United, with a €33 million release clause in his contract making him very tempting.
Yet United's potential lack of Champions League football next season is bound to be a stumbling block, especially for a player who has always affirmed his affection for Dortmund.
In his usual position on the left though he would be a major upgrade on Ashley Young, who has a total of two Premier League goals and no assists this season.
