According to the Daily Mail, Mourinho was unhappy that the French television channel had filmed a private conversation and used the clip on their website.
During the incident in question, the Blues coach shared a joke with the boss of Swiss watch-makers Hublot about Chelsea's lack of goalscorers.
However, Canal+ are said to have recorded the talk, subsequently posting it on their site.
Considering the fact that the 51-year-old had joked that striker Eto'o might be three years older than his official age, one can understand why Mourinho didn't want the quotes to be broadcast.
"The problem with Chelsea is I lack a scorer," Mourinho said in an off-the-cuff remark. "I have Eto’o but he is 32 years old, maybe 35, who knows?"
The video has since been removed from the French TV channel but the quotes had already been seen - and circulated - by many.
Mourinho's joke was part of the same interview in which he suggested that Radamel Falcao is "wasted" at Monaco and refuted the possibility of a move for Zlatan Ibrahimovic.
The gaffe means the 51-year-old now has one more distraction ahead of Chelsea's Champions League tie with Galatasaray on Wednesday night.
But then it wouldn't be the first time Mourinho has caused a stir.
