News, views and rumours relating to Manchester United in the past 24 hours.
Manchester United won 2-0 against Crystal Palace at Selhurst Park on Saturday via goals in the second half from Robin van Persie and Wayne Rooney.
David Moyes praised Wayne Rooney for his performance on Saturday.
"I've never had any worries about Wayne,” said Moyes. “His was one of some really good performances. He scored a very good goal and some of his passing was great.”
In team news, United could be without Phil Jones and Jonny Evans for the clash due to a hip and calf problem, respectively.
Record signing Juan Mata is cup-tied and therefore ineligible to be included in David Moyes’ squad whilst Nani and Danny Welbeck are both out with hamstring and knee injuries, respectively.
Nani, Phil Jones and Jonny Evans were all missing from United’s training ahead of their trip to the Greek capital.
The Red Devils could face former goalkeeper Roy Carroll who now plays for Olympiakos. The Northern Ireland international who left the club nine years ago claims United look ‘nervous.’
"They look nervous. Every time you watch them this season you just feel that the opposition will score. It's weird - you don't associate that with Manchester United," stated Carroll.
In transfer news, United continue to be linked with Bayern Munich star Toni Kroos.
The Metro suggests United ‘offered’ Toni Kroos £250,000 a week in wages to move to Old Trafford from the Bundesliga champions.
Bayern Munich president Franz Beckenbauer stated Kroos’ wage demands are ‘through the roof’ and suggested the Germany star could be sold.
"You have to make a decision as a club when someone's demands are going through the roof," he told Sky.
"There is not a single player who's worth changing your entire wage structure for. Nobody's indispensable. If the player wants to stay at Bayern, I can only advise him not to overplay his hand."
However, his German international teammate Ilkay Gundogan is also rumoured to be on David Moyes’ wish list this summer at Borussia Dortmund.
The Mirror, meanwhile, suggest United are ‘keen’ on former Arsenal midfielder Alex Song who could return to the Premier League after failing to cement his place in the team at Barcelona.
