Manchester City latest: Midfielder earns first call-up; Barca man set for second-leg return

All the latest news, views and transfer rumours from the Etihad…

Samir Nasri has warned Manchester City of the damage a cup final defeat can have on the team.

In quotes published by FourFourTwo, the French midfielder said, “I don’t have good memories in the cups, because I lost the final with Arsenal as well as last season (against Wigan Athletic).

“We got to the final with Arsenal and lost. After that, we won only two games in the league, so a win would be really important for us and for the confidence.”

City go up against Sunderland at the beginning of next month, with Manuel Pellegrini surely desperate to win his first piece of silverware as City boss.

In other news, the BBC reports that Barcelona defender Gerard Pique is likely to be fit for the second-leg of the Champions League last-16 tie.

The Blues have a mountain to climb in the Nou Camp, and that task looks like being made no easier by the fact the Spain international should have recovered from a thigh injury by then.

And finally, the Manchester Evening News reports that City youngster Emyr Huws has been called up to the Wales squad for the match against Iceland on March 5.

The 20-year-old is currently on loan at Birmingham City and has impressed Wales boss Chris Coleman enough to be included in his squad.
