A City banker who is accused of attempting to murder her magistrate mother by lacing her Diet Coke with lethal poison will face trial in July.

The Daily Mirror reports that Kuntal Patel, 36, was arrested at her family home in Stratford, East London, after an investigation by Scotland Yard’s Counter-Terrorism Command led to three raids across the capital.

Ms Patel, who works for Barclays Bank in Canary Wharf, shares the £450,000 property with her chemist sister, Poonan, and mother, Meena, 54, who she is accused of attempting to kill between December 10 last year and January 26.

Meena Patel sits on the bench at Thames magistrates’ court.
