All the latest transfer news coming from Madrid.
The 18-year-old has made a name for himself this season, becoming the youngest ever player to net a hat-trick in Holland’s top flight.
Recent reports suggested that Arsenal were preparing a bid, with the Dutch media saying: “Bakkali is a player that Wenger rates highly, Arsenal have kept an eye on him and are aware that other teams want him, so could move in the summer to buy him”. Yet, it now appears that Real Madrid are stepping up the chase.
The Belgian youngster has started seven Eredivisie games so far this season, and despite his hat-trick being his only goals scored, he has shown excellent ball ability with 24 successful dribbles and 19 shots on goal.
It is suggested that he will join up with the Real Madrid Castilla side, before gradually learning the Real Madrid way and pushing towards the first-team in a similar mould to Jese Rodriguez.
In other news by the same paper, Sami Khedira has been linked once again with a move away from the Bernabeu, with Manchester United a potential destination.
Currently valued at €22m by transfermarkt, the German international has barely featured for Real Madrid under Carlo Ancelotti and is currently ruled out until the summer with a cruciate ligament rupture.
Many factors have coincided with his possible departure, such as the form of Luka Modric and Angel Di Maria in a new central position, but more importantly is his contract situation. Khedira’s deal runs out in the summer of 2015, and no plans have been made to extend his deal whilst he has been out of action.
Manchester United are actively looking to strengthen their midfield area in the summer, with a host of names such as Arturo Vidal and Dortmund’s Ilkay Gundogan also being linked with a move to Old Trafford.
Sami Khedira however fits the bill as both a defensive rock and a creator going forward, and with Real Madrid’s presumed willingness to sell, the 26-year-old would certainly be a very appealing prospect for the Red Devils.
