Mourinho: Falcao is wasted at Monaco

Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho has been discussing striker Radamel Falcao.

Colombian striker Radamel Falcao signed for Monaco last summer, confounding the expectations of many who believed him likely to move for Chelsea.

Manager Jose Mourinho hinted earlier this month that Financial Fair Play regulations had restricted the Blues from launching a £50 million plus bid for the goalscorer.

With Falcao suffering an unfortunate injury and Chelsea suffering striker troubles, it's easy to argue such a move would in fact in hindsight been better for both parties should they have found a way to make it happen.

Speaking to French television station Canal +, Mourinho sounded reticent about the striker and his choice of club to play at Monaco, hinting he is wasted at the Ligue 1 club.

"I have a team, but I do not have Falcao. Falcao, he has no team.

"A great player can not play in front of 3,000 spectators."

Quizzed if he could make a move for him, Mourinho reportedly grinned and stated: "I think it's impossible."

Ever the show man, the Chelsea boss was asked if he could manage a team like Monaco which does not attract anything like the attendances which Premier League, or even fellow Ligue 1 sides do.

Of course, was his response: "When I go to the coach Monaco, it will be complete..."
