It’s only a friendly, but still you want to put in a good account for yourself.
Try telling that to Stromsgodset - who were simply thrashed this evening against Lokomotiv Moscow in a winter break friendly.
The Russian Premier League side currently sit in second place in the league table - joint on 40 points with Zenit Saint Petersburg.
They took on Stromsgodset in a friendly today that was supposed to be a highly competitive fixture.
Godset are the Norwegian champions and have the likes of Manchester City youngsters Mohammed Abu and Bismark Adjei-Boateng as well as Francisco Junior of Everton currently on loan at the club were completely pasted - losing 15-0!
Former Tottenham striker Roman Pavyluchenko bagged a hat-trick in the game while Dame N’Doye scored five and Maksim Grigoriev bagged four.
Godset whimpered out of the game after 84 minutes as the referee, in pity, blew the final whistle early.
It was obviously not Godset at full strength - plus they have just finished their season while Lokomotiv are in the middle of a title challenging one on their part.
In fact they had just six players available after a sickness bug hit the club - so locals and coaching staff, including assistant coach David Nilsen and first-team manager Ronny Deila, all featured.
But still … 15-0!
How embarrassing - but at least they had a laugh with the Norwegian press after the game - assistant Nilsen stating:
“I got a morale boost when Ron came in.”
Lokomotiv reportedly refused to move the game despite numerous requests from a desperate Godset - and showed them absolutely no mercy!
