Arsenal & United target shocks La Liga with performance that could rob Barca of the title

Antoine Griezmann playing for Real Sociedad

Reported Arsenal and Manchester United target Antoine Griezmann scored one and set up another as Real Sociedad stunned Barcelona.

Wingers can be a frustrating breed. Too many have the ability but lack the nous to know what to do with it.

But the very best of them channel their speed, their awareness, their raw ability, and turn it into something devastating.

Such is the case with Real Sociedad wide-man Antoine Griezmann, who is enjoying an outstanding season in La Liga and has been linked with both Arsenal and Manchester United in recent months.

The 22-year-old Frenchman has 15 goals in just 23 league appearances this season, his latest coming in a shock 3-1 victory over Barcelona on Saturday.

Griezmann also added another assist to his season’s tally, when he set up Zurutuza for the vital third that put the game out of Barca’s reach.

The result saw Sociedad finish the day in fifth place, but it is the impact it could have on their opponent’s league chances that cannot be understated.

Real Madrid and Atletico Madrid would have been rubbing their collective hands in glee at a result that could see Barcelona slip three points behind both sides after 25 matches. And much of that is down to Griezmann.

The left-winger had three shots during the match, two of which were on target. He also played two key passes and had a pass-completion rate of 86%.

But he did not shirk on his defensive responsibilities, making two tackles and one interception prior to his 74th-minute substitution.

Given his goal-scoring form and overall influence, it is no surprise some of England’s top clubs are reportedly interested.

He admitted earlier in the season that he had no intention of leaving until the summer at the earliest. But his talent is such that he could soon have a very big decision to make over his future.
