Another twist in Draxler saga: 'I would never rule out the best for the club' says Bayern man

Bayern Munich sporting director Matthias Sammer has been speaking about reported Arsenal target Julian Draxler.

Julian Draxler is a wanted man. That much is clear.

What is not so clear is where he will end up.

The Schalke player is reportedly high on Arsenal’s summer shopping list. But the same can be said of Bayern Munich…or not…depending on what you read and who you listen to.

Sometimes Draxler is heading to Bayern, and sometimes he is not. Sometimes Arsenal are heading the queue, and other times they have not even joined it.

And then there is Manuel Neuer, who threw something of a curveball earlier this month when he predicted Draxler would stay exactly where he is for some time to come.

And now Bayern’s sporting director Matthias Sammer has had his say on the Draxler rumours in an interview with German newspaper Bild.

When asked if he could rule out a summer move for Draxler, Sammer replied, “I would never rule out the best for the club.”

He was also questioned about the 20-year-old’s reported release-clause of €45.5million, at which point he said, “I understand the demands, but it is not currently our topic.”

So for now the mystery remains. But you can rest assured that given his talent, Europe’s biggest clubs will be interested in signing Draxler when the time does come for him to leave Schalke.
