Darijo Srna has revealed that he could have moved to Stamford Bridge over the summer.

Croatian defender Darijo Srna has been a key player in Shakhtar Donetsk’s progression in the Champions League in recent years.

The 31-year-old, who has played for the Ukrainian side since 2003, stated that he had the opportunity to move to Chelsea or Bayern Munich in the summer, but opted to stay with his current side.

"It is true, I had two concrete offers but I listened to my heart and remained at the club with whom I grew up for 11 years," he told Novosti.

"If I moved, I would get more money, but as I said, it was a decision which was written in my heart.

"At the end I also did that because of my family which wanted to stay."

Srna is the most-capped player in Croatian football history, with 110 appearances for his nation.

He has also won seven Ukrainian Premier League titles during his career.
