Fulham played their first game under the tutelage of Felix Magath today - and it was certainly a much better performance than the Cottagers had produced under the management of Rene Meulensteen.
They took the lead in the game through Ashkan Dejagah but after that they sat off and had to ride a storm.
Unfortunately they could not hold on - and Matej Vydra grabbed a late equaliser to help The Baggies in their own battle for survival.
But positives could be taken from the game. They played with fight and the performance of Lewis Holtby would have given fans hope of surviving the drop.
He was one of many new boys who arrived in January to try and make a difference to their indifferent season.
The likes of Kostas Mitroglou, Clint Dempsey, Ryan Tunnicliffe and William Kvist all arrived as did Johnny Heitinga.
The former Everton defender comes in to add steel to a flaky defence - and he is exactly the sort of professional that Magath will let thrive in his squad.
This however is Heitinga’s first relegation fight - but looking at his Twitter account he seems to know the right things to say in these situations:
Great team spirit today! Your support was immense, we're all disappointed it wasn't 3 points, but we need you all to keep believing #fulham— John Heitinga (@Johnheitinga) February 22, 2014
