Predicted Tottenham Hotspur XI to play Norwich City - Six changes from Dnipro defeat

Match to be played on Sunday 23rd February 2014 at 16:00. Venue: Carrow Road, Norwich.

Tottenham travel to Norwich City this weekend looking to react following defeat away at Dnipro in the Europa League.

It’s an extremely important game for Tim Sherwood’s side as they look to close in on fourth place, currently sitting in fifth with 50 points. Several players should return to the side following the Dnipro game after they were left out of the match squad.

Here’s the team Sherwood could go with.

GK – Hugo Lloris

Lloris has been one of the best goalkeepers in the Premier League so far this season. He’s always thinking about how he can take the pressure off his defence which allows the back four to adopt a high line.

RB – Kyle Walker

Walker will be well rested and should be determined to have an impact in this game. He needs to stay tight defensively and get forward well to create extra width.

CB – Michael Dawson

Dawson is the leader in the back four and he should keep his place. He needs to lead by example and stay calm if the match doesn’t start as Tottenham would help.

CB – Jan Vertonghen

The Belgian should line up next to him in the heart of defence. He’s quick, strong and reads the play extremely well, which will also allow him to cover for Danny rose at left-back.

LB – Danny Rose

Rose is one of the quickest players in Tottenham’s team which makes him useful going forward, but also in defence when he has to track back and recover.

RM – Aaron Lennon

Lennon has been in good form since he was shown faith in the starting side by Sherwood. His pace and skill in possession is important and his side need his final ball to be spot on.

CM – Paulinho

Paulinho is one of the most versatile midfielders Spurs have. He works box-to-box very effectively, dropping off to break up the play but also pushing forward to create an extra attacking threat.

CM – Nabil Bentaleb

Bentaleb seems to be a firm favourite of Sherwood’s which means he should keep his place in the starting eleven. He needs to improve on his performance against Dnipro.

CM – Mousa Dembele

Dembele is an extremely powerful player in the middle of the team. He can cover multiple positions, break up the play and move possession on quickly to more creative players.

LM – Christian Eriksen

Eriksen may adopt a left midfield position to begin with but he won’t always stay there. When rose gets forward, he should move inside to become a central creative player for the team.

ST – Emmanuel Adebayor

Adebayor has been in great form under Sherwood and he should lead the attack. He gets into good positions looking to score simple goals and he’s intelligent enough to get involved in build up play.
