Breaking news today is that Wayne Rooney is closea new contract to stay on at Old Trafford. The striker and England No.10 signed a new five-and-a-half-year contract worth £300,000 per week up until July 2019.
"Everyone knows how important a player he is. He is a terrific football player and if we can get it done it will be great," manager David Moyes said earlier this week.
Chelsea had made more than one bid for the 28-year-old over the summer but his new deal will ensure the forward remains a Manchester United player for the foreseeable future.
Meanwhile, former United assistant manager Carlos Queiroz believes David Moyes needs time to prove himself successful at Old Trafford.
“If you are not able to win today, I am sure tomorrow things will be right. I think they need to be given time,” he stated.
Manchester United take on Crystal Palace this Saturday at Selhurst Park kicking off at 5.30pm GMT.
In team news, Marouane Fellaini is fit and could make his first start since early December whilst Phil Jones could return but Jonny Evans remains a doubt for the clash with the Eagles.
