Jose Mourinho told to finally talk up Chelsea's title chances

Jose Mourinho has been urged to start talking up Chelsea's title chances.

Everton manager Roberto Martinez believes his Chelsea counterpart Jose Mourinho should start talking up his side's chances of winning the Premier League title this season.

Saturday's lunchtime meeting between the sides at Stamford Bridge could see the West Londoners extend their lead at the table's summit to four points ahead of Arsenal's game with Sunderland, but Mourinho continues to dismiss talk of being crowned champions.

Earlier this month, the self-styled Special One insisted that Chelsea's local rivals and Manchester City were the forerunners in the race and downplayed his side as a 'little horse'.

But with 14 games of the current campaign remaining, Martinez feels that the time for modesty has now passed for the main contenders for the title - including Mourinho.

"When you are the manager of a football club, you know where you are in terms of your plan and your strategy in terms of bringing a project together. A manager will always give you a view from that position of knowledge," he told his pre-match press conference.

"From the outside, clearly Chelsea looks a team that are capable of competing for the title in the same way I can see Arsenal and Manchester City with strong arguments to win this title.

"It's the final third of the season - I think now is the time that the teams can speak about the aims of this season.

"When you see the way that the teams are showing the points tally that they have in the table, it's clear that those three clubs will have clear ambitions of winning the title and rightly so."
