Tottenham latest: Chadli had no doubts about staying, build up to Europa League tie

A selection of the latest stories involving Tottenham Hotspur this Thursday evening.

Nacer Chadli has told the London Evening Standard he had no doubts about staying at White Hart Lane despite interest from Swansea City, but has admitted he has had his struggles settling in.

Chadli, who signed from FC Twente for £7m in the summer, said: ‘Moving to Swansea was a possibility. But I had to make my decision and my decision was to say. Not everything was clear with the situation so I wanted to stay at Tottenham.

‘I had no doubts about it. I signed for five years, I want to make it here and I’m happy to be here now. When I came here I knew I was not going to play every game because Tottenham play 60 games in a season.’

Spurs are in action against Dnipro in the Europa League last 32 this evening and goalkeeper Brad Friedel is anticipating a difficult game in Ukraine but is taking a positive attitude into the match.

He told the Tottenham website: ‘We look to win games and we’ll do the same against Dnipro. This will be a difficult game and we know Dnipro are a good side. We want to position ourselves so we can finish the job at White Hart Lane.’

Michael Dawson is looking to carry some of the momentum the side has built up in recent weeks into tonight’s clash, and says the side is determined to win the competition this season.

He told the club's website: ‘Winning football matches breeds confidence whatever competition we’re playing in.

‘We’ve come this far in the competition and we got to the quarter-finals last year – we want to go on and win it this time.

‘We know the Premier League is a priority but every game you play you take seriously and we want to be in the next round.’
