The Spaniard's shinned effort over an open goal was made all the worse after Tottenham went on to lose 1-0 to Konoplyanka's late penalty
It appears a difficult season for Roberto Soldado isn't showing any signs of getting better any time soon.
Earlier in the campaign, his struggling league form was at least offset by some impressive Europa League performances. He scored twice on his European debut against Dinamo Tbilisi, before hitting a hat-tick against Anzhi as Spurs qualified from their group in style.
But in an open game against Dnipro last night, his European luck seemed to be going the same way as his Premier League form.
Despite a generally impressive game, with many skilful touches and moments of incisive passing that split open the opposing defence, it is a terrible miss from within the 6 yard box that will define his contribution to the match.
The Spanish international found himself on the end of a great run and cross by Paulinho, only to shin the ball over from an almost impossible 4 yards.
The former Valencia man than ran on to kick the post in frustration with his attempt still spiralling high and wide.
It is possible defenders of the chance could point to an awkward bounce off a poor pitch, but it was still a huge disappointment for a player deflated from his inability to find the net.
Tim Sherwood will have to demonstrate his fledgling man-management skills to remind Soldado of the good work he put in during the match, as the Spaniard will likely be castigated by many for what was admittedly an awful attempt, that nevertheless sadly exemplifies his season.
