Arsenal latest: Szczesny awaits UEFA comment; Ozil says sorry and thank you

Szczesny Training

All the latest news and gossip from the past 24 hours at The Emirates.

Today has seen plenty of reaction to the defeat against Bayern Munich yesterday - starting with Mesut Ozil apologising to fans and then thanking his team-mates for their support after the game.

The club record signing missed an early penalty in the game which eventually proved costly - as they lost 2-0.

It has also emerged today that Mesut Ozil and Mathieu Flamini appeared to have a heated clash on the pitch last night.

It came shortly after Ozil failed to track the run of Arjen Robben behind him - and the ever vocal Flamini was quick to remonstrate with his more illustrious team-mate.

Ozil seemed to aggressively dismiss his team-mates concerns.

Wojciech Szczesny is reportedly set to be in hot water with UEFA after he appeared to make an obscene gesture as he left the pitch yesterday. He was sent off for a foul on Arjen Robben - and while he didn’t seem to make a fuss of the decision at the time, he was spotted making a hand gesture that might be deemed offensive by UEFA and their infamously harsh disciplinary panel.

He could face a two match ban for the incident.

Arsenal are said to be eyeing up young PSV Eindhoven forward Zakaria Bakkali - according to The Metro.

A PSV source has stated:

“Bakkali is a player that Wenger rates highly. Arsenal have kept an eye on him and are aware that other teams want him, so could move in the summer to buy him.”

The Belgian starlet became the youngest hat-trick scorer in Dutch league history earlier in the season and at just 18-years-old would certainly be one for the future.

Nicklas Bendtner didn’t seem to bothered by being left out of the Arsenal squad for the game last night. He was snapped by the ever eager paparazzi at the Brit Awards after party - as he tried in vain to remain unseen.

He is expected to leave the club at the end of the season as he now appears to be their third choice forward.
