Ex-Arsenal player Emmanuel Eboue mocked on Twitter after Real Madrid performance

The fun-loving Ivorian got a taste of his own medicine when the social network site blew up with humourous criticism of his display for Galatasaray.

Emmanuel Eboue was something of an enigmatic figure while an Arsenal player. While many were always sceptical of his actual ability on the field, especially in a defensive capacity, nobody ever doubted the fact he was a popular character to have around the club.

Fun loving and good natured he brought a smile to many a fans face; and even the players couldn’t help but laugh at his infectious behaviour.

But no Galatasaray fans were laughing last night.

The Turkish outfit succumbed to a 3-0 away defeat to Real Madrid leaving them with a massive mountain to climb if they are to progress any further in this seasons Champions League.

Eboue certainly did not have the best of games and his defending for the first goal was as comical as this video of him pretending to understand the instructions of North Korea manager Kim Jong-Hun while representing Ivory Coast at the 2010 FIFA World Cup:

So while many quickly pointed out the disaster that was inevitably going to occur when Eboue was tasked with halting Cristiano Ronaldo in his tracks others were more free-spirited and tongue-in-cheek when criticising the Ivorian.

Something we are sure the wannabe comedian appreciated just as much as Ronaldo’s footballing ability…

Some however where less forgiving ... shame on you Gary Lineker. Shame on you!

What did you make of Eboue’s display?
