Tottenham Hotspur morning news: Boost for Spurs as Serie A giants rule out move for star

A round up of news stories this morning about Tottenham Hotspur.

Aurelio de Laurentiis has moved out a move from Napoli for Tottenham attacker Erik Lamela.

The £30 million rated star has been linked with a move back to Serie A after a frustrating first season in English football.

“He's not in our plans. We have reinforcements in that role and we will not play checkers with some of our own players,” Napoli’s president told Fox Sports.

Spurs defender Jan Vertonghen has suggested he’s getting back to his very best at the club.

Vertonghen has been a key feature in the Spurs defence under head coach Tim Sherwood since returning from injury.

“I did everything to come back as quickly as possible. You have to be careful not to come back too early and I feel better and better, I thought I had a good game against Everton and that I'm getting back to my best level,” he told the Tottenham website.

Former Tottenham Hotspur boss Andre Villas-Boas could be on the verge of his next job.

AVB is being linked with Trabzonspor in Turkey, with the Portuguese coach thought to be on a serious list of candidates.

Turkish source Spor.bugun has linked AVB with the role along with former Chelsea boss Roberto Di Matteo.
