Report - Monchengladbach eyeing possible replacement for Man United target

Borussia Monchengladbach are reportedly interested in Andre Hahn, a carbon copy of Patrick Hermann.

German newspaper Bild has suggested that Borussia Monchengladbach are one of the sides interested in Augsburg star Andre Hahn.

The 23-year-old central and right sided midfielder is reportedly being watched by the Bundesliga club along with Jurgen Klopp’s Borussia Dortmund.

Hahn has been one of Augsburg’s best players so far in a decent season, which sees his current employers sitting in ninth place. He’s scored nine goals and produced four assists from 20 appearances to help them along.

“Gladbach coach Lucian Favre and Dortmund colleague Jurgen Klopp are in a duel for the fastest player in the Bundesliga. They are fighting for the Augsburg flash!” reads the report in Bild.

The rumour is significant for Manchester United because it could be an indication that that Monchengladbach are potentially preparing for the departure of United target Patrick Hermann.

United boss David Moyes is believed to have scouted Hermann, along with teammate Max Kruse, earlier this season as he mulls over potential investments for the summer transfer window.

Hermann and Hahn play in exactly the same position so if the interest is real and official from Monchengladbach, it’s the biggest sign yet they could be preparing to do business for their current 23-year-old star.

“If there is interest, we will deal with after this season,” Bild quotes Augsburg general manager Stefan Reuter.

So it’s a waiting game to see of Monchengladbach get the edge ahead of Borussia Dortmund in the race to sign Hahn.

Both Bundesliga clubs have players who have been linked with transfers to Old Trafford but in the cash of Hermann, signing Hahn is much more realistic and believable if they are thinking of letting United possibly have their man.
