Predicted Tottenham Hotspur XI to play Dnipro - Townsend and Soldado to start

Europa League Final

Match to be played Thursday February 20 2014 at 18:00 GMT. Venue: Dnipro-Arena, Ukraine.

Tottenham Hotspur’s stars will be rested and refreshed as they head into their Europa League game against Dnipro tomorrow.

Spurs will back themselves to beat any side in front of their own fans so the aim will be to stay in the tie and ensure that they give themselves a chance of finishing off the game at White Hart Lane.

With Norwich away on Sunday, head coach Tim Sherwood could protect some senior stars. Here’s the side he could go with.

GK – Brad Friedel

The American has been a top class deputy to Hugo Lloris this season and Tottenham lose nothing in terms of quality through selecting him.

RB – Kyle Naughton

Naughton is the natural candidate to start at right-back in the absence of Kyle Walker. He offers pace down that side and will be crucial in terms of providing extra width.

CB – Michael Dawson

Dawson didn’t come off the bench in Tottenham’s last game against Newcastle so he should be hungry to get back into the team.

CB – Jan Vertonghen

The Belgian is very comfortable on the left side of central defence. He's good in possession and carries the ability to mop up any aerial threat Dnipro try and put together.

LB – Danny Rose

Similarly to Naughton, Rose offers a lot of pace and he's fit enough to attack and defend all night. He should be up for proving himself in a potentially hostile environment.

RM – Andros Townsend

Townsend has been short of football since the turn of the year and he’s a great option to have on the right. He can cut inside and also switch flanks if Sherwood wants to change tactics.

CM – Etienne Capoue

Capoue will be the central midfielder who most likely drops off and protects the defence, looking to read the play and cut of danger before it develops.

CM – Nabil Bentaleb

Bentaleb has been a regular since Sherwood took over as head coach. He can slot into the middle of the team and pull the strings, controlling the pace of the counter attacks.

AM – Christian Eriksen

Eriksen should be ready to switch back on after being allowed to go back to Ajax to say his goodbyes. If Spurs get him on the ball as quickly as possible then he can hurt Dnipro.

LM – Nacer Chadli

Chadli scored a superb goal against Newcastle which will fill him with confidence. His pace down the left will be vital for Tottenham in terms of exploiting pockets of space in behind the defence.

ST – Roberto Soldado

Soldado should be very determined to use this match to throw down a claim that he should start at the weekend. He has to work hard, occupy more than one defender and get into positions which could set him up with some simple finishes.
