2014 has been a tough year so far for both QPR and Ravel Morrison. The latter had an excellent start to the season with The Hammers - which even had many asking for him to receive a call-up to the England squad.
However he has not played regularly in 2014 - playing just 44 minutes of Premier League football since January 1st.
For QPR it has also been a shocking year so far.
They have struggled in the absence of goal-machine Charlie Austin - and Harry Redknapp has watched his side struggle to maintain a push for automatic promotion.
They have lost their last two games and are without a win in three ahead of the game with Charlton Athletic on Saturday.
Derby County have already swallowed them up - and Nottingham Forest are threatening to do the same - so Redknapp knew he had to do whatever tinkering he could to his flagging unit in order to secure a play-off spot, let alone automatic promotion.
So the perfect solution has been found - with Morrison joining QPR on a 93 day emergency loan deal.
An England call-up now seems unlikely - but if he can find some of that early season form he might just fire QPR into the Premier League and put himself right in the view of Sam Allardyce ahead of the 2014-15 season.
That might just be his international breakthrough year.
