Manchester United fans react on Twitter to Kroos performance v Arsenal

Toni Kroos, Germany National Football Team

United transfer target Toni Kroos put in an exceptional performance for Bayern Munich this evening.

Manchester United have been linked heavily with a move for Bayern Munich midfielder Toni Kroos over the past few weeks.

It all stemmed from David Moyes being spotted taking in a Bayern Munich game against Borussia Monchengladbach - sitting alongside the German international’s agent.

When it emerged Kroos’ contract talks over an extension to the final 18 months of his current deal had reached a stalemate it seemed he might just be on the way. He then made things worse after seemingly storming off after being substituted against VfB Stuttgart.

Of course his boss Pep Guardiola did not help with these comments over the player:

"He is an important player but things can move fast in football. Here today, gone tomorrow.”

Of course it was a potential deal that had fans salivating. Kroos is a highly talented player and something of a regular in the Bayern side, despite the strength in depth in Bavaria.

Nothing happened in January - but there is a growing belief that a deal in summer seems a real possibility.

His captain Philipp Lahm recently told him to stick it out but it is still a potential deal that rumbles on.

And tonight we all saw just why United would want him.

He put in an almost Paul Scholes like performance against Arsenal this evening - dominating the game with his range of passing and excellent ball control.

He stung the hands of Wojciech Szczesny early on, it was his delicious chipped through ball that saw Arjen Robben brought down by the Polish keeper for the game changing red-card and then of course he hammered in the goal that gave Bayern the lead in the tie.

His performance was simply outstanding - and symbolised nearly everything United have been missing this season.

And guess who was at The Emirates to watch the game?

David Moyes of course...

Here is what United fans thought of his performance in North London...
