All the latest news, views and transfer rumours from Old Trafford...
Manchester United midfielder Darren Fletcher has provided a much needed boost to the heart of manager David Moyes' side, and his form having recovered from a chronic stomach illness has resulted in a call-up to the Scotland squad for their friendly against Poland next month, and manager Gordon Strachan is evidently delighted to have the 30-year-old back in contention for the first time in well over a year.
"It was wonderful over the Christmas period to see him back playing football," said Strachan. "We have got to take it a stage further. I've seen him playing and he has lost none of his enthusiasm, which he will never lose. To have him back in the squad is terrific."
But one United midfielder who seemingly won't be playing international football at any time soon is Adnan Januzaj. The starlet has burst onto the scene this season with some dazzling displays, but there remain question marks over which country he will represent. Belgium, Albania and England have all been suggested as being able to call up Januzaj, but it was Kosovo who tried to call up the 19-year-old this week, only for Januzaj to turn down the call, according to his father.
“I was born in Kosovo, but the situation there is complicated as our Kosovo federation (FFK) is not yet recognised by FIFA." said Abedin Januzaj. "It is something we will consider in the future. I obviously don’t exclude the possibility of seeing my son in a Kosovo national team jersey in the future, but we have time to think for that as it is delicate."
“I know Roy Hodgson said he would consider having Adnan in the English squad in the future. But, as I said for Albania and Belgium, it is not something we are considering right now. Our full potential will be focused in doing well with Manchester United," he added.
Meanwhile, the rumours of United looking to improve their midfield options continue to hit the news, and this time it's Inter Milan midfielder Fredy Guarin who is apparently attracting the interest of Moyes. The Colombian has been a star in Serie A since his 2012 move from Porto, and was recently a target for Chelsea, but with Moyes desperate to improve his midfield, a bid for the 27-year-old could be made in the summer.
