The Gunners host the Bundesliga champions in the last sixteen first leg clash hoping to avoid a repeat of last term’s exit from the competition to the eventual winners.
However, the North Londoners can count on their fans to be the twelfth man tonight as supporters plan to create a ‘mosaic’ in the stadium tonight. The Arsenal supporters network sent a message out to fans attending tonight’s clash at the Emirates to show up early with plenty of friends and make their presence felt physically as well as on social media.
“This is the one game where we need everybody to play their part,” explained the post on Twitter.
“Most people say they want a fantastic atmosphere in our stadium, and that we should be more like German fans in Germany. Here is a great opportunity to achieve exactly that.”
The Emirates has often been the subject of criticism for it’s lacklustre energy and noise but, I have to say, having been at the clash with Bayern Munich last time around, the stadium certainly starts rocking when the big guns visit. Arsene Wenger and his team can expect a vocal crowd tonight intent on doing their best to unsettle the German giants with a taste of their own medicine.
I also remember the game this term when Arsenal hosted Borussia Dortmund and seeing around 1,000 German fans marching down Hornsey Road singing at the top of their lungs is intimidating to say the least - but perhaps it’ll be Arsenal fans tonight who will make themselves heard.
