Arsenal pre-match latest: Guardiola in ominous hint; Rosicky to start?

All the latest news and gossip from The Emirates ahead of the game with Bayern Munich this evening.

Arsenal take on Barcelona this evening and we can begin to speculate about the team that might feature.

One player who seems likely to start is Tomas Rosicky.

The Czech midfielder was given a rest at the weekend in the FA Cup and Arsene Wenger called him their ‘big game player’ this week.

He is reportedly set to come into the starting line-up at the expense of the in-form Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain.

Olivier Giroud is expected to return although Wenger does have a decision to make regarding Lukas Podolski and whether to play Nacho Monreal or Kieran Gibbs at left-back.

Mikel Arteta is suspended while Theo Walcott, Thomas Vermaelen, Aaron Ramsey Theo Walcott and Abou Diaby remain injured.

Bayern Munich are definitely without Franck Ribery and Xherdan Shaqiri and Daniel Van Buyten is also expected to miss the game.

However there are doubts over Bastian Schweinsteiger - who is rated 50-50 and unlikely to start the tie.

Meanwhile Pep Guardiola has made an ominous call to his Champions League rivals in an interview with Sky Sports - as he hinted there is still more to come from his Bayern side.

He stated:

"We are in a good position, but I'm still in a period where I'm getting to know the players, and the players me. I feel we are still in a process of getting better."

And ahead of the game Arsenal have urged their fans to be at the stadium by 7.35 to create a ‘German-like’ atmosphere at the ground to greet their Champions League rivals.

Away from the game and Serge Gnabry has rejected a call to play international football for the Ivory Coast.

The German teenager qualifies through his father but stated:

“Since I have played for the Germany youth teams, it is no question for me that I want to play for Germany by any means. I hope that I can make the leap into the first team."

Arsenal are being linked with Udinese goalkeeper Simone Scuffet. The 17-year-old is reportedly beng targeted as Lukasz Fabianski and Emiliano Viviano are expected to leave the club come the summer.

Wenger is expected to show faith with Damian Martinez for one of the three goalkeeper positions in the first-team and he sees Scuffet as the other.
