With the North London outfit set to entertain the current European champions tonight, just which players would make a joint team?
The German powerhouses are the visitors to the Emirates Stadium in the last 16 of the Champions League.
With Pep Guardiola’s men in phenomenal form, Arsenal will need to play out of their skins to record a positive result.
The Gunners have been in fine form themselves this season, and the clash with the Bavarian side will be a real indicator of just how far Arsene Wenger’s men have come.
But, when picking a combined XI of the two sides, how many Arsenal players would get into the team?
GK – Manuel Neuer
Despite Wojciech Szczesny putting forward solid showings for Arsenal this term, Manuel Neuer is one of Europe’s best goalkeepers and must be selected.
RB – Philipp Lahm
Bacary Sagna is an able right-back, bit cannot compare to the experience and ability of the Bayern captain.
LB – David Alaba
Originally a midfielder, Alaba has slotted in at left-back with aplomb and has real quality.
CB – Dante
A modest signing from Borussia Monchengladbach, the Brazil international has become an important man for the European champions.
CB – Laurent Koscielny
The France international has been linked with a switch to Bayern in the past, and on his day has what it takes to play in the best teams in Europe.
LW – Franck Ribery
Mercurial, gifted and talismanic, Ribery was a crucial player in the German side’s triumphant treble win last season.
RW – Arjen Robben
The former Chelsea man gets the nod over Santi Cazorla due to his consistency, ability to add goals and his role in Bayern’s Champions League success last season.
CM – Bastian Schweinsteiger
As commanding and dominant as central midfielders come these days, the Bayern vice-captain would get into any side in the world.
CM – Aaron Ramsey
The Wales international’s injury is a real blow ahead of the clash tonight, with Ramsey in startling form this season. Thiago Alcantara or Toni Kroos may not be too happy about his selection here however.
AM – Mesut Ozil
A straight shootout between Ozil and Gotze could be called either way, but the Arsenal man gets the nod at international level and despite a dip in form recently is still a world-class star.
ST – Mario Mandzukic
The lack of a deadly centre forward could well cost Arsenal, with this Bayern striker linked with a move to the Emirates Stadium this summer after the arrival of Robert Lewandowski.
