British light welterweight title challenger and former Sheffield United & Birmingham City star has given Manchester United's winger a verbal jabbing.
Once Curtis Woodhouse has gotten his hands on light-welterweight adversary Darren Hamilton, Manchester United winger Ashley Young may want to watch out, as the 33-year-old has claimed if ever there was a footballer he would want to slap then it would be the England international winger!
A former footballer himself, Woodhouse represented Sheffield United and Birmingham City as a midfielder, before a journeyman career that took him to Peterborough United, Hull City, Grimsby Town and six others. The highlights of his football career were perhaps a hat-trick of appearances in the Premier League with Birmingham and four England caps with the Under 21s.
On Saturday, February 22 at the Hull Arena, Woodhouse has the chance to win his highest sporting achievement as the boxer challenges Hamilton for the 140lb British championship belt in a match-up that has been highly hyped by their respective managers; Dave Coldwell and Spencer Fearon.
Ahead of the bout, Woodhouse caught up with Nuts magazine, who asked him who he would most like to give a slap if he was still in football. His answer? A Manchester United player…
He said: 'Hmmm… who gets on my t*ts? Ashley Young needs a clip. Throwing himself to the floor every two minutes - I wouldn't mind giving him a slap!'
Also, on the differences between soccer and pugilism, he added: 'You're stood a metre away from someone who's trying to take your head off and that's a buzz. Forget all the bulls*it… no matter where you're from or how much money you've got in the bank when that bell goes, you bleed like the next man.'
