Ezequiel Garay not only kept a clean sheet against the United loanee, but found the net himself.
Benfica appear determined to resist advances from Russian club Zenit St Petersburg, and hold onto key defender Ezequiel Garay until the season's end.
He proved his worth at both ends of the field over the weekend, helping his side keep a clean sheet and scoring in the 2-0 win.
United scouts may well have been watching his display, if too to see how loanee Bebe got on - that is if they haven't given up on the Portuguese outcast altogether.
For the second time this season, Garay was not worried by Bebe leading the line for Pacos de Ferreira.
Earlier this season the Argentine landed up on the winning side, scoring twice in a 3-1 win. The first of which being a header reminiscent of Nemanja Vidic at his best.
While Bebe remains technically still a Red Devil, his goal tally of three this season is unlikely to swing any favour in terms of keeping him at Old Trafford.
Garay, a central defender, has the same number of goals in two games against Bebe's side alone this campaign, although he has just one other to his name.
In fact it's probably a better bet that Garay is the more likely of the two to be playing his football at Old Trafford next season.
