Following rumours of an impending departure, an announcement was made revealing that Nemanja Vidic would indeed be leaving Manchester United at the end of the current campaign.
At just 32, the centre-back is far from past-it, and despite suffering his fair share of injury problems, it is surprising to many that Vidic has not been offered an extension given the likely departure of Rio Ferdinand (who is three years his defensive partner's senior).
And now Goal reports that Vidic has agreed his next move - reportedly a two-year deal with Italian side Inter Milan. And further to that, the deal was said to be agreed following United's 0-0 draw with Arsenal last Wednesday evening.
And there is the slightly ironic thing, because Vidic's performance against the Gunners was excellent. In fact he and Ferdinand (who came on for the second half) rolled back the years to ensure David Moyes' side left with a clean-sheet.
As you can see from the table below, Vidic was at his imperious best, effectively clearing the ball on 17 occasions with his feet and a further 11 times with his head. He also won seven duels and five aerial duels. And then, if we are to believe the latest claims, he went off to agree a switch to Italy.

Perhaps Vidic simply feels it is time for a change, but if United played their part by opting not to offer him a new contract, then they may be proved foolish in time.
For the defender to play so well in the very last game before reportedly agreeing a summer move may suggest he knows exactly what he still has to offer.
United fans will simply be hoping Moyes has a rabbit up his sleeve when it comes to replacing him.
