Manchester City latest: Barca players arrive and Toure has nothing to prove

Champions League Pitch

All the latest news, views and transfer rumours from the Etihad…

Barcelona have touched down ahead of their Champions League match against Manchester City on Tuesday.

The Daily Mail has published a collection of photographs of the Barca players arriving at the airport, while Cesc Fabregas posted a photo of his own earlier in the day, of himself, Gerard Pique, Alex Song and Carles Puyol.

City will be hoping the Barca players look considerably less relaxed when the whistle blows to kick off what has all the ingredients to be an exceptional match.

In additional build-up to the game, Yaya Toure has told Sky Sports he does not have a personal point to prove when he comes up against his former team.

No, I don’t have anything to prove to them,” he said.

I won a lot of trophies with them and from my point of view it was the right time to move on. With the history Barcelona have, I could do nothing more.”

That may well be the case, but he has done plenty since his arrival at the Blues, his performances consistently brilliant which raises the question: Does his former team regret letting him go?

We may have a better idea of the answer once the final whistle blows in the second-leg of this last-16 tie.
