Just a week ago I wrote a piece on Tiago Ilori’s debut for Granada.
The Portuguese centre-back had recently moved to the La Liga club on loan from Liverpool, and the 20-year-old impressed for the Spanish side despite them losing 1-0 to Espanyol.
And in Ilori’s second start for the club, he played a huge role, this time in a 1-0 win against Real Betis.
The former Sporting Lisbon player provided the assist for the only goal of the game, sending a wonderful long-range ball into the path of Piti who finished the move.
So Ilori has now proved that he is not just a fine defender he also has an eye for a key pass.
The player may not have been able to break through at Anfield this season, but his impact in Spain should not be understated.
Granada are in a relegation scrap, and are currently just three points outside the bottom three. And yet since Ilori arrived, they have conceded just one goal.
So while the likes of Mamadou Sakho and Daniel Agger may have other ideas, it looks like Ilori has his eyes firmly on a starting-berth at Anfield next season; at least that is what his performances for his temporary club are suggesting.
You can see his assist from the weekend below:
