Including messages from Mesut Ozil, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and Lukas Podolski.
There was a lot of pressure on Arsenal yesterday as they headed into the FA Cup game against Liverpool having been thrashed by the Anfield side last weekend and following that up with a disappointing 0-0 draw against Manchester United.
However, the Gunners responded well to set up this week’s Champions League game against Bayern Munich perfectly. Goals from Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, Lukas Podolski and a spot of poor officiating from Howard Webb guided Arsene Wenger’s men to a 2-1 win at the Emirates.
It would have been understandable yesterday if heads had started to drop within the Arsenal squad following bad results, with a little bit of doubt potentially creeping in but the key players all stood up and all played well.
The defence reacted well to the drubbing they received at Liverpool, making slight changes which gave them a better chance of coping with the pace and movement of Daniel Sturridge and Luis Suarez in the Liverpool attack.
The midfield went about their business impressively with Oxlade-Chamberlain and Podolski providing the pace while the likes of Ozil, Arteta and Flamini pulled the strings in the middle of the team.
All round, there were plenty of encouraging signs for the Gunners who now have two days to rest, train and prepare before taking on Europe’s best team at the moment.
Here’s what some of Arsenal’s stars had to say about the result on social media site Twitter.
