If Jose Mourinho ever needed to back up his comments with a win, Saturday was the moment.
The Chelsea boss had criticised Arsenal's Arsene Wenger as a 'specialist in failure', only to see his club booted out of the FA Cup by Manchester City 24 hours later.
Then today, Arsenal won their FA Cup tie against Liverpool, and predictably Wenger was quizzed on the jibes after the game.
Wenger on Mourinho: "I'm embarrassed for him."— Paul Hayward (@_PaulHayward) February 16, 2014
"I'm not going to get involved in silly spats. It's more embarrassing for Chelsea and Mourinho than it is for me," he stated.
Mourinho has been widely criticised for the personal put-down of Wenger, even though the other argument is that the Arsenal boss provoked him into it, the Chelsea manager did not have to respond as robustly as he did.
Right now though, it is Wenger who will be smiling, and Mourinho who may want to avoid tomorrow's papers.
