The 23-year-old was a reported transfer target for Manchester United during the January transfer window, with unfounded rumours flying around that his representatives were in Manchester for talks.
Roma’s star has also attracted the attentions of Arsenal, Real Madrid and Paris Saint-Germain, and said back in January: “It's flattering and I am sure glad to hear that. I have become a supporter of Roma and should there be a transfer it will require that the three parties agree.”
Despite staying with the Giallorossi beyond the transfer deadline, Pjanic remains under the watchful eye of his suitors. His former club Metz’s academy chief admitted recently speaking with the Bosnian’s agent, and was told of the reported interest in his client – naming both Manchester United and Arsenal, saying:
"I spoke with his agent a month ago and all these clubs want Pjanic," Metz's academy chief Denis Schaeffer told insidefutbol.com.
"However, Roma are challenging for the Scudetto and they don't want to lose him, but in the summer he could leave."
"I'd like to see him return to France and play for PSG but whatever decision is made will be good."
The Bosnian international would have sent scouts into a frenzy over his recent performance against Sampdoria. Pjanic took 110 touches, making 86 passes with a success rate of 93% - more than any other player on pitch.
Yet, if that wasn't enough, a fabulous second-half free kick most certainly would have - finding the bottom corner with a stinging shot from a fully 30-yards out.
Pjanic’s control in possession, his creativity and eye for goal coincides with the midfielder Manchester United desperately need, but the Red Devils will face a lot of competition for his signature this summer should they try and persuade him to move to Old Trafford.
