Liverpool morning news: Early team news, £8m defender linked & ‘keeper tracked

A select round-up of morning news relating to Liverpool...

Liverpool face Arsenal this afternoon in the fifth-round of the FA Cup.

In early team news, the Reds may bring Daniel Agger straight back into the starting line-up after his return from injury, but Glen Johnson is not fit.

Midfielder Joao Carlos Teixeira is also tipped to play a part.

For Arsenal, Mathieu Flamini returns from his suspension – his contribution sorely missed in the 5-1 defeat at Anfield last weekend – but Santi Cazorla may miss the game due to illness.

The BBC hints that both Olivier Giroud and Wojciech Szczesny could be rested for Wednesday’s Champions League match against Bayern Munich.

In transfer news, the Sun reports that Liverpool and Galatasaray are competing for the summer signature of Manchester City defender Micah Richards.

Brendan Rodgers reportedly tried to secure a loan deal for the England international back in January, but now the suggestion is he will attempt to complete a permanent move at the end of the current campaign with the Blues said to be asking for £8million.

And finally, the Sunday People reports that both Liverpool and Everton are monitoring Levante goalkeeper Keylor Navas.

The 27-year-old Costa Rican would potentially be back-up for Simon Mignolet if a move to Anfield does occur.
