Manchester City will look to take the momentum from their 2-0 FA Cup victory over Chelsea at the weekend into their Champions League clash with Barcelona this Tuesday night.
Manuel Pellegrini’s side play the La Liga giants at home in the first leg, and will look to take the ascendancy in the last 16 tie.
Barcelona’s Andres Iniesta has stated that it will be tough clash – and identified countryman David Silva as the English team’s chief protagonist.
“Of course we are expecting two very tough games against City - they have players that would get into any squad in Europe,” the immensely talented midfielder is quoted as saying in the Mirror.
“We have to show them respect - because they have so many players that are capable of causing us problems. They are used to scoring many goals in their games in England - but we will represent a different challenge. They won’t find things has easy has they have been in England.”
“Many of the players at Barcelona know David Silva very well. It is very simple - he is one of the best and most intelligent players in the world. It will not be an easy job keeping him quiet - but it is something we must try and do.”
However, despite Iniesta’s respect for City, he added that he believes Arsenal are the team in England that play the best football.
“I think Arsenal still play the best football in England. They play in a style in the way that most emulates what we do at Barcelona - and what is in our opinion the right way to approach the game.
“They may not have spent what other teams have in England - but their football philosophy is the most attractive in England.”
Iniesta will play a key part in Barcelona’s mission to win the Champions League this season, with his match-up against the likes of former team-mate Yaya Toure on Tuesday set to be mouth watering.
