Last week reports started surfacing that Serie A giants Juventus were going to have another go at signing Robin Van Persie in the summer.
The Italian side were first linked with the striker in the summer of 2012, the same summer United persuaded Arsenal to allow the Dutchman to complete a move to Old Trafford in Sir Alex Ferguson’s final season.
David Moyes has since come in and Van Persie is reportedly the latest who wants to leave the club at the end of the season.
If it’s a deal that United are willing to consider then it could give them some help if Moyes wants to try and bring midfielder Paul Pogba back to the club.
We asked United fans in a poll whether they would mind Van Persie being axed in order for the 20-year-old Frenchman to come back to the club and 66% of those who voted said the striker should go.
Despite the recent signing of Juan Mata from Chelsea, there is still a perception that United are short in midfield and it’s a void that Pogba could go a long way towards filling.
His record this season for Juventus has been outstanding; six goals and eight assists from 23 Serie A appearances. He’s also produced three assists in Champions League games.
He’s under contract until 2016 so any fee would be on the larger side but it’s clear the fans want Van Persie to go if it means they can get back a player who could form the spine of the side for the next ten years.
