One of the key areas in which Manchester United need to strengthen this summer is in central midfield, with a player capable of adding energy, guile and creativity to their team on the wishlist.
A likely candidate to potentially fill the gap is Ilkay Gundogan, who was been repeatedly linked with a switch to Old Trafford in recent months.
The Borussia Dortmund star’s contract expires in the summer of 2015, and as such there have been question marks over his future.
However, the latest comments from the playmaker indicate that he is not considering a switch away from Signal Iduna Park and that his first port of call is with his current employers.
“Even if you don’t believe me, I will dedicate 100% of my strength to BVB,” the Real Madrid admired midfielder told Bild.
“My goal is to be soon an integral part of the team. Everything else is just completely irrelevant.
“All these rumours, I never comment on them.
“I have always promised that my first contact will definitely be Borussia Dortmund. I am true to my word.”
