Arsenal's move for 'next Ozil' cooled by agent

The North London side have been linked with Wolfsburg’s Maximilian Arnold, but the star’s representative has played down talk of a transfer.

Arsenal’s German contingent was bolstered by the summer arrival of Mesut Ozil from Real Madrid, joining the likes of Per Mertesacker, Lukas Podolski and Serge Gnabry at the Emirates Stadium.

The Gunners were heavily linked with a January move for Schalke’s Julian Draxler, but another young German star has been reported as a Gunners target of late.

Wolfsburg’s Maximilian Arnold has been a star this season and excelled for Germany under-21’s, leading to him being reportedly pursued by top foreign clubs.

With Juventus also linked with a move for the mercurial talent, many are touting Arnold as the ‘next Ozil’.

However, the player’s representative has dismissed talk of his client leaving his homeland.

“Max is with Wolfsburg and he is doing fine,” Karl Herzog told kicker-Sportmagazin.

“He definitely enjoys all the qualities of the club and they know all of his qualities."

The 19-year-old has scored six goals in 14 Bundesliga outings for the side this season.
