Is Real Madrid sensation Jese Rodriguez poised to become one of the stars in Brazil?
The 20-year-old has thrust himself into Spanish coach, Vicente Del Bosque’s plans for the summer with some eye-catching performances in recent weeks.
Jesé Rodriguez earned his first league start of the season in the 1-1 draw against Bilbao two weeks ago, and followed it up with his second of the season last week in the 4-2 win over Villarreal.
Filling in for the suspended Ronaldo, Jesé scored in both games, also grabbing an assist for Benzema’s second goal last week against Villarreal.
The Spaniard has now scored four goals in his last five appearances and is giving Carlo Ancelotti a selection headache with so many options available in attack.
Jesé can play anywhere across the attacking line, and has played on both wings, as well as leading the attack in the past month.
He will be hoping to earn his third start of the season on Sunday afternoon, when Real Madrid travel to Getafe, with Ronaldo still out for another two league games.
It has already been a successful campaign for the youngster, who has made 27 appearances for Madrid, scoring seven goals, with six assists as well.
Jesé was a key member of the Spain-U20 squad in the World Cup last summer, as he netted five times in five appearances at the finals.
And he will now look to feature for Spain’s first team as La Roja set out to retain their World Champion status in Brazil this summer.
Vicente Del Bosque has hinted that Jesé is in his plans for the World Cup if he can continue to impress for Madrid.
“All who are playing regularly and are performing well, are potential players for the national team. I wouldn’t like to highlight one name in particular, I’m speaking in general terms that all those with the potential and who can come. In the case of Jesé, he’s one of those.”
