The dust has settled on some entertaining mid-week Premier League action and the FA Cup games this weekend close in.
Following that it’s the glitz and glamour of the Champions League with English fans debating whether Arsenal, Chelsea and both Manchester clubs can make it into the quarter-finals.
We’ve taken a look back at the headlines on this day last year to see what stories were getting fans talking.
‘Inter block £17m Sneijder deal’
Dutchman Wesley Sneijder revealed that former side Inter Milan blocked a £17 million move for him to join Manchester United.
Sneijder was linked with United on more than one occasion during the Sir Alex Ferguson era but a deal never happened.
“Manchester United had offered €20million [£17million] for me and the club rejected it. I wanted to go to United but Inter didn’t let me. And then they asked me to lower my wage. I didn’t accept it,” said the midfielder.
‘Fabregas speaks over his future’
Former Arsenal midfielder Cesc Fabregas dealt a blow to his former side by announcing that he wants to finish his career with Barcelona.
Should the Spaniard ever become available in the future, the Gunners have first option on re-signing him but he revealed he wasn’t looking to walk away from the Nou Camp.
“Now I have returned and I want to stay, if I can and if I deserve to, forever,” he told Sky Sports.
‘Paulinho hints at Corinthians exit’
The midfielder was strongly linked with Chelsea and Inter Milan before completing a move to Spurs last summer.
“I do not know what will happen in June. Nor can I say with certainty that I will stay or go away, we will see,” he said.
