Tottenham latest: Adebayor could miss trip to Ukraine, French defender linked

Emmanuel Adebayor

A selection of the latest stories involving Tottenham Hotspur this Friday evening.

Emmanuel Adebayor is likely to miss Tottenham’s Europa League trip to Dnipro according to the Evening Standard.

The striker has been carrying a dead leg in the past two Premier League matches but he hasn’t stopped the Togo forward from getting three goals from the two games to help Spurs keep up the pressure on Liverpool for the fourth and final Champions League place this season.

The Standard says that key players such as Jan Vertonghen, Hugo Lloris and Kyle Walker will all be part of the squad that will travel to Ukraine.

Dnipro are managed by former Spurs boss Juande Ramos who offered his opinion on the club he used to manage ahead of next week’s clash, saying they are more interested in the resale of players than competing for honours.

Ramos told the Daily Mail: ‘Why aren’t Spurs going to win the league? Because they are always a small step below those three or four teams. Economically it works well but in sporting terms it needs a slight tuning. What are you chasing? Titles or economic success?’

TalkSport have profiled PSG left-back Lucas Digne, indicating that both Spurs and Liverpool could battle it out for the Frenchman’s services in the summer. Digne’s chances have been limited this season at the French champions and he could be open to a move away from the club – with both Premier League sides said to be interested in a new left-back.

Nabil Bentaleb reflected on the 4-0 win over Newcastle United on the Tottenham website, saying he enjoyed being part of the midfield on Wednesday night.

He said: ‘It worked well with Capoue as a holding player and myself and Pauli as eights. I really enjoyed it.

‘I’m happy to be involved, proud to be in the team and working hard to make sure my performances are good enough to stay in.’
