Wenger on Arsenal's dropped points: 'We're only human'

Arsene Wenger Big Coat

Arsene Wenger believes Arsenal don't warrant criticism for failing to beat Manchester United.

Failing to beat Manchester United hasn't always been a reason to dish out stick to teams, but this United side have shown all season they are there for the taking.

Yet David Moyes' under-performing team have taken four points off Arsenal this season, while Arsene Wenger believes they may have benefited from playing the title contenders at the right time.

He told reporters in his press conference after the game that Arsenal were nervous, after their 5-1 beating at the hands of Liverpool days earlier.

Wenger stated: "We were nervous. We care about what we do and when we concede five goals, as we did on Saturday, we are only human beings."

That's all well and good, because Arsenal did keep a clean sheet, largely due to impressive saves from Wojciech Szczesny.

Yet it does not explain their flagging attacking game, with nobody able to break the deadlock.

Olivier Giroud was truly woeful in attack yet again, which of course will re-ignite the debate about the club's transfer policy.

Watching him it was hard not to wonder whether Nicklas Bendtner would have done better, as the club missed a chance to go top of the table.

It's time to lose the nerves however, with Bayern Munich coming over next week, if players are lacking confidence, it will be ruthlessly exposed.
