Three Manchester United under-performers against Arsenal

Which Manchester United players didn't live up to their star billing against the Gunners?

Here are three who could have done better...

1) Robin van Persie

Robin van Persie had scored in every game he had played against Arsenal since joining United, and really should have done again last night. He missed a glorious chance in the opening moments, which last season he would have buried. Late on he was denied by a excellent save by Wojciech Szczesny, but he will be disappointed not to have found the net and won the game.

2) Juan Mata

The first game Mata has played for United and not claimed an assist, the Spaniard made just one key pass as Arsenal marshalled him well. He had two efforts on goal but both were off target, and it appears as though by no fault of his own he is struggling to fit into the club's system. Found his man with one of three attempted crosses.

3) Adnan Januzaj

Harsh perhaps to judge the youngster on a 15 minute showing, and we're not doing that, simply that in that quarter of an hour he didn't live up to his star billing. He was unable to make any kind of impact when it mattered, when the game was crying out for it. Not enough time to try and make an impact, but he did not succeed in making a clear point to his manager that he should have been on the pitch sooner.
